Public
Parcels

The Muskegon Conservation District owns several parcels
throughout Muskegon County that are open to the public for
minimum impact recreation. A majority of these LU parcels,
land utilization parcels, were deeded over to the District from
the U. S. Forest Service and encompass 957 acres and range in
size from 20 to 120 acres. These lands are open to
recreational activities that do not hinder the ability of the
District to utilize the property for its intended purposes,
forest management demonstration. In most cases,
individuals may use the property for the general purpose of the
following activities without notification or consent: hiking,
bird / wildlife watching, environmental education, and
harvesting of edible mushrooms. Certain parcels are also
open for special purposes such as hunting, trapping, skeet
shooting, or other activities not listed as a general purpose.
Individuals interested in using the parcels for activities other
than general use (Hunting, trapping, skeet shooting, etc.) must receive written consent by the Executive
Director and follow all parcel rules and regulations. Please
call and make an appointment to fill out necessary permits.
