YES! - Youth and Environment Stewardship Grants Program
Applications are now being accepted for the YES! - Youth and Environment Stewardship grants program
for 2010 - 2011. The deadline for submitting applications is March, 30th 2010.
This program is open to all educators and community organizations interested in raising environmental
awareness in Muskegon County by connecting youth with local organizations and implementing hands-on
environmental projects. Please apply even if you do not need funding and are simply seeking to build a
meaningful partnership to implement a project.
Projects funded in the past have included: planting community gardens, planting and restoring natural
areas for use in future outdoor education, water quality monitoring and beach clean-ups, funding student
visits to “green” art exhibits, hosting environmental art sculpture classes, and reinstating successful
school recycling programs. Please see the YES! Flyer for more project ideas.
Project grants, funded by Alcoa Foundation, are awarded at two levels:
• $400 - Short duration projects that will be accomplished over the next three to six months are typically
funded at the $400 level.
• $800 - Long term projects that will be completed over the course of a year are typically funded at the
$800 level.
Office Hours: Tuesday - Friday 7:30am - 5:30pm
Due to the nature of our work, the office may be closed during regular office hours as our staff are working in the field or attending appointments with landowners. Thank You!
